After completing his studies at Temple Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Youmans accepted the pastorate in Hazard, Kentucky, at Davidson Baptist Church. He has pastored there for 29 years. His burden to train Christian workers in foreign countries has led him to further his education, focusing especially upon the areas of pastoral studies and the Old Testament. Since 2002 he has been involved in training believers both overseas and here in the United States. He has taught classes at Piedmont as an adjunct professor both online and in modular format. Believing that the Old Testament is not the inferior Testament, he has especially focused on providing a proper understanding of its overall purpose, as well as the correct practical application of individual passages. Since all Scripture is “given by inspiration of God…and is profitable…” Dr. Youmans believes that many believers are missing opportunities of spiritual growth when they ignore the truths of the Old Testament. He and his wife, Hilda, have three children and three grandchildren.
